Bunker Hill Beard Co. — Crafting Tobacco the Way America Used To
As many of you know, Bunker Hill is always pushing boundaries. We’ve talked before about our in‑house tobacco extraction process—but today I wanted to make sure that we explained the process.
This process gives you the best quality tobacco in all of our blends and it is also different any other brand in the business. The fresh tobacco leaf gives of scents yiu just can't find elsewhere.
We start with Fresh tobacco leaf—aroma‑rich, cured, and ready for processing.
Leaf submerged in alcohol—beginning the solvent extraction phase.
Finished tobacco oil—the result of slow, controlled evaporation.
A bonus byproduct: a dense, highly concentrated resin ball that can be re‑processed into oil later.
And we didn’t stop at tobacco. This same process is used to create Madagascar Vanilla, Honey, Molasses, and a Colonial Spice Blend—all of which will appear in Reserve line, and other future products.
You won’t find more naturally aromatic ingredients, or many companies willing to put in this level of time, precision, and craftsmanship. And the best part? Our pricing stays exactly the same.
Bunker Hill continues to innovate not because we have to—but because we want to. We embrace challenge. We welcome change. And we take pride in doing things the right way, even when it’s the hard way.
If you want to experience complex, groundbreaking, heritage‑driven products, you need to experience Bunker Hill.
A Heritage‑Driven Extraction Process for a Signature American Aroma
Bunker Hill Beard Co. has developed a solvent‑extraction and low‑temperature evaporation method to produce high‑purity tobacco essential oil—a warm, leathery, authentically American aromatic ingredient crafted from real cured leaf.
This is not a nicotine product. It’s a heritage note, distilled from the same rugged spirit that shaped Boston’s earliest revolutionaries.
This process allows us to transform an iconic American crop into a luxury base note for beard oils, balms, butters, colognes, and more—anchoring our brand in craftsmanship, authenticity, and historical grit.
Why Tobacco Essential Oil Belongs to Bunker Hill
American Heritage
Tobacco was a cornerstone crop of early America. Distilling its aroma honors the era of rebellion, trade, and craftsmanship that defines our identity.
Masculine Depth
Natural tobacco oil carries warm, leathery, honeyed, smoky tones—perfect for the rugged, colonial‑inspired scent profiles Bunker Hill is known for.
Upcycled Craftsmanship
We use real dried tobacco leaf, transforming raw heritage material into a premium aromatic ingredient.
Brand Exclusivity
By producing our own tobacco essential oil, we create a signature note no competitor can replicate.
So how exactly does it work?
The Bunker Hill Extraction Method
1. Sourcing the Leaf
We acquire aroma‑rich tobacco leaf—selected for curing quality, aromatic depth, and low‑nicotine fractions ideal for fragrance use.
2. Solvent Extraction
A food‑/pharma‑grade solvent gently draws out the aromatic compounds that give tobacco its warm, leathery character—without harsh heat or degradation.
3. Controlled Evaporation
The solvent is removed through slow, low‑temperature evaporation, leaving behind a concentrated aromatic oil.
4. Polishing & Standardization
The oil is filtered, refined, and tested for:
consistent color and clarity
stable aromatic profile
low nicotine levels appropriate for fragrance
batch‑to‑batch reliability
The result is a premium‑grade tobacco essential oil ready for integration into Bunker Hill’s grooming and fragrance lines.
